A
Testing Time - What are You Like??
Here are some remedies that people have found useful
Aethusa:
Examination funk, as in can't take in any more. Stuffed with all sorts
of knowledge
or with just thinking about it all too much.. Suddenly jacks it all
in. Brain has seized up from over-work! Just don't want to know anymore
about it.
Getting
really worked up at just the thought of the ordeal. Very fearful. Believing
that you really can't do it, but equally frightened of failing.
Might be under great pressure from family or school. History of more
blame for mistakes than praise for successes. Maybe you live in a family
which has not allowed you to make your own decisions and take responsibility
in the past.
You're getting sick of being put down and are likely to say, "Up
yours!!"
Feeling worse in hot weather and worse for drinking milk [sickly]
Gelsemium
sempervirens: This is a good remedy when you
feel almost paralysed before a difficult time. Your mind just won't
move and nor will your body. Feeling dull and heavy and unable to put
your mind to it at all.
Trembling legs and an urgent need to rush to the loo.
You are sure you will fail even though you have done everything possible
to make it a success. You're lacking confidence and have negative thoughts.Headache
as if a band round head, especially if you don't drink enough water.
It is particularly good for stage fright, actors who forget lines and
lose confidence. They may look entirely stupid and as though they couldn't
care less.
Lycopodium:
You' ve
probably done lots of work; much more than is necessary. You're the
hard-working type whose confidence is low and who fears that others
will find out that you are not as good as they think
Your biggest tests are any kind of performance in public - speaking
or driving. You get petrified and start to sweat profusely even when
thinking about it. Once the action actually starts you are usually fine
and do well. Because of this and because you present a very confident
front, your mates might well not offer you any sympathy or support.
You might well feel much worse around tea-time, so anything which you
have to do then is very bad news. Missing meals will make things worse
for you because your anxiety is felt in your stomach. You tend to fill
up on chocolate or sweets.
Sleeplessness may be a problem, especially before midnight.
Anacardium:
This
state can feel like a total memory block. As if a different person did
the practising or revision. No idea who that can have been. You totally
lose self-confidence.
You
have conflicting pressures in your life - maybe parents splitting up
or you are trying to do something you don't really want to do.
You feel very angry and depressed; curse your mates and start to hate
them. It is very hard for you to feel sympathy for anybody else - you
feel cruel and hard.
Horrible stomach pains like a plug pressing outwards, which feel better
for eating. You m ight even get constipated.
Argentum
nitricum
People who need this remedy are quick, impatient and impulsive. You
act first and think later. Being on time is important and you like to
arrive early to steady your nerves. "Wired" describes you
well. As you tend to live in the future you fantasize about what a disaster
it will be if you fail. "But what if?"
The
more anxious you become the more hurried you are; talking and walking
faster and faster. Sometimes you feel your heart beating really hard,
which is frightening and gets worse when you think about it.
There can be such a fear of failure you give up altogether and find
it hard to start again. Your panicky feelings are so intense that you
can't think of anything else.
You have horrible dreams and wake feeling dreadful.
A craving for sugary things is part of the anxiety and eating them makes
you more jittery and gives you diarrhoea and wind. You feel absolutely
exhausted and worn out after the event.
